The Prophet ﷺ said, "When a woman puts on perfume and then passes by a group of people so that they catch her scent, she is such and such," speaking in severe terms.
ى، عن النبي الله ﷺ قال: إذا استعطرت المرأة فمرت على القوم ليجدوا ريحها فهي كذا وكذا قال قولا شديدا.
Abu Dawud (4173) narrated it from Musaddad, who said, Yahya (Ibn Saeed) narrated to us, Thabit bin Umara informed us, Ghunaym bin Qays narrated to me, from Abu Musa, and he mentioned it.Tirmidhi (2786) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, from Yahya bin Saeed, with the same chain, and its wording was, "Every eye is prone to adultery, and if a woman perfumes herself and passes by a gathering, then she is such and such," meaning an adulteress.Nasai (5126) narrated it from Ismail bin Masud, from Khalid, who said, Thabit, that is, Ibn Umara, narrated to us, with the same chain, and its wording was, "Any woman who perfumes herself and passes by a group of people so that they catch her scent, she is an adulteress."Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih. Ibn Hibban also reported it in his Sahih (4424), and Hakim graded it sahih (2/396), both of them by way of Thabit bin Umara, with the same chain.Thabit bin Umara is disputed, but his hadith is hasan. Ibn Main and Daraqutni both deemed him trustworthy, and Nasai said, there is no harm in him.
