Uthman bin Affan entered the mosque after the sunset prayer and sat alone, so I sat down beside him. He said, "My nephew, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever prays the evening prayer in congregation, it is as if he stood in prayer for half the night, and whoever prays the dawn prayer in congregation, it is as if he prayed the whole night.'"
Muslim narrated it in the book of Mosques (656), from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who reported to us from Mughira bin Salama Makhzumi, who narrated to us from Abdul-Wahid (who is Ibn Ziyad), who narrated to us from Uthman bin Hakeem, who narrated to us from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra, who mentioned it.In the version of Abu Dawud (555) and Tirmidhi (221), transmitted through Uthman bin Hakeem, the wording is, "Whoever attends the night prayer in congregation will have the reward of having stood in prayer for half the night, and whoever prays the night prayer and Fajr in congregation will have the reward of having stood in prayer for the whole night."Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih."
