Muslim narrated it in the chapter on mosques (657), from Nasr bin Ali Jahdami, who said, Bishr (meaning Ibn Mufaddal) narrated to us, from Khalid, from Anas bin Sirin, "I heard Jundab bin Abdullah say," and then he related it. He also narrated it from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, from Dawud bin Abu Hind, from Hasan, from Jundab bin Sufyan, from the Prophet ﷺ, with this same wording, but without mentioning, "and casts him into the fire of Hell." Tirmidhi (222) also narrated it by this route, saying, Muhammad bin Bashshar narrated to us, Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, with the same wording, and he said, "hasan sahih."It does not cause any harm that Abu Dawud Tayalisi (980) narrated it from Shuba, from Anas bin Sirin, as a stopped report (mawquf), for he said, "This hadith was also narrated by Bishr bin Mufaddal, from Khalid Haddan, from Anas bin Sirin, from Jundab, from the Prophet ﷺ." It may be that Anas bin Sirin narrated it in two different ways, and the raised (marfu) version is the latter one, which is the version Muslim chose to narrate, transmitting it from the hadith of Bishr bin Mufaddal.Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir (2/173) from Ibrahim bin Naila Asbahani, who said, Ubayd bin Ubayda Tammar narrated to us, Mutamir bin Sulayman narrated to us, from his father, from Hadrami, from Abu Sawwar, from Jundab bin Abdullah, with similar wording, and he added in it that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever betrays my protection, I will be his opponent, and whoever I oppose, I will defeat." Tabarani's teacher, Ibrahim bin Naila Asbahani, has some unusual (gharib) hadiths, and this is one of them.Jundab is Ibn Abdullah bin Sufyan Bajali, and he is sometimes traced back to his grandfather. As for the meaning of his saying, "so let Allah not demand anything from you regarding His protection," it means, beware of Allah demanding an account from one who has neglected His right, for such a person will be held accountable, and no one who flees from Him can escape.
