The Prophet ﷺ said, "No prayer is heavier upon the hypocrites than the dawn prayer and the night prayer. If they only knew what they contain, they would come to them even if they had to crawl. I have considered ordering the muezzin to call the iqamah, then appointing a man to lead the people in prayer, then taking torches of fire and burning down the houses of those who have not yet come out for the prayer."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan (657), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Mosques (651/252), both through Amash, who said, Abu Salih narrated to me, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith. The wording given is that of Bukhari, and in Muslim's wording, "Then he would set out with me along with men carrying bundles of firewood, to people who do not attend the prayer, and he would burn their houses down upon them with fire."
