Imam Ahmad (7384) and Humaydi (997) narrated it from Sufyan, from Abdul-Malik bin Umayr, who said, "I heard a man say, 'I heard Abu Hurairah,'" and then he mentioned it. This is how it appears in Humaydi's version, but in the Musnad it is narrated from Abu Awbar, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it, except that it does not mention his statement, "and he turns away to his right and to his left." Rather, the Imam narrated it with another chain (7385) from Husayn bin Muhammad, who said, Sufyan narrated to us, and he added in it, "he turns away to his right and to his left." Bayhaqi (2952) narrated it through the route of Saadan bin Nasr, who said, Sufyan narrated to us with it, and he combined the two hadiths.Abu Awbar, who is well known by his kunya, was named by Nasai, Dulabi, Abu Ahmad Hakim, and others as Ziyad. Ibn Main and Ibn Hibban confirmed his reliability, and Ibn Hibban graded his hadith sahih, see Tajil (343).I say, Ibn Hibban recorded his hadith (3610) in the Book of Fasting, "Do not fast on Friday, for it is a day of celebration, unless you join it with other days."
