She said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink while standing and while sitting, pray with sandals on and barefoot, and turn from the prayer to his right and to his left."
قالت: رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يشرب قائما وقاعدا، ويصلي منتعلا وحافيا، وينصرف من الصلاة عن يمينه وعن يساره.
Tabarani related it in Al-Awsat (1235) from Ahmad, who said, Yahya bin Hakeem Muqawwim told us, who said, Makhlad bin Yazid Harrani told us, from Yahya bin Saeed Ansari, from Ataa, from Ayesha, and he mentioned the hadith. Its chain is hasan because of Makhlad bin Yazid, for some criticism has been made of him regarding his memory, though his hadith is hasan, and he is among the narrators found in the two Sahihs. Haythami said in Al-Majmu (2/55), "Tabarani related it in Al-Awsat, and its narrators are trustworthy." This is among the best chains through which this hadith has been narrated.Nasai also related it (1361) from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who said, Baqiyyah told us, who said, Zubaydi told us, that Makhul told him, that Masruq bin Ajda told him, from Ayesha, who said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink while standing and while sitting, and pray barefoot and with sandals on, and leave the prayer turning to his right and to his left."Ahmad also related it (24567) from Isam bin Khalid, who said, Abdul-Rahman bin Thabit bin Thawban told us, from someone who heard Makhul, narrating from Masruq, the same as the above. There are defects in this chain, among them,1 - A break between Makhul and Masruq. Abu Zura Dimashqi denied in his Tarikh (p. 329) that Makhul, who was from Shaam, ever heard from Masruq bin Ajda.2 - Abdul-Rahman bin Thabit bin Thawban is disputed. Imam Ahmad declared him daif and said, "His hadiths are objectionable," but others deemed him trustworthy. The conclusion regarding him is that he is "sound in his hadith."3 - The unnamed narrator in Imam Ahmad's chain.4 - Inconsistency in the chain of this hadith, as some scholars have noted. The conclusion is that the hadith is hasan by Tabarani's chain, and it is not undermined by the other chains, as is established in the principles of hadith, that when a hadith is confirmed sahih through one chain, it is not undermined by daif chains.
