Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

The polytheists kept us occupied on the day of the Trench from praying the noon prayer until the sun had set, and this was before the rulings concerning fighting had been revealed. Then Allah عز وجل revealed, "And Allah sufficed the believers in battle" [Ahzab 33:25]. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Bilal, who called the iqamah for the noon prayer, and he prayed it just as he used to pray it at its proper time. Then Bilal called the iqamah for the afternoon prayer, and he prayed it just as he used to pray it at its proper time. Then he called the adhan for the sunset prayer, and he prayed it just as he used to pray it at its proper time.
