The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Move away from the place where this lapse overtook you." Then he instructed Bilal, who gave the call to prayer and the iqamah, and they prayed.
في هذا الخبر- يعني قصة التعريس
فقال رسول الله ﷺ: تحولوا عن مكانكم الذي أصابتكم فيه الغفلة قال: فأمر بلالا فأذن وأقام وصلى.
Abu Dawud (436) narrated it from Musa bin Ismail, who said, Abu Aban narrated to us, Mamar narrated to us, from Zuhri, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith. Abu Dawud said, Malik, Sufyan bin Uyayna, Uzai, and Abdul-Razzaq narrated it from Mamar, and Ibn Ishaq as well, and none of them mentioned the adhan in this hadith of Zuhri, and none of them gave it a connected chain except Uzai and Abu Aban Attar, from Mamar. End of quote.I say, Muslim also narrated it in the chapter on mosques (680) through another route, from Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, and he did not mention the adhan in it. Rather, he said in it, Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed wudu and ordered Bilal, who gave the call for the prayer to begin, and he led them in the dawn prayer. When he finished the prayer, he said, "Whoever forgets a prayer should pray it when he remembers it, for Allah has said, "and establish prayer for My remembrance" [Taha 20:14]." Yunus said, Ibn Shihab used to recite it as "lidh-dhikra" (for the remembrance).Muslim also narrated it from Yahya bin Saeed, who said, Yazid bin Kaysan narrated to us, Abu Hazim narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith, in which it says, Then he called for water and performed wudu, then he prostrated twice, then the call to begin the prayer was given and he led the morning prayer. From this it becomes clear that the mention of the adhan in Abu Aban's narration from Mamar is an addition. Abu Aban is Aban bin Yazid Attar, Abu Yazid Basri, a trustworthy narrator. Ibn Main, Ibn Madini, Ajli, and others have affirmed his trustworthiness, and he is among the narrators relied upon by the two sheikhs (Bukhari and Muslim), so his addition must be accepted. This is the view held by Imam Ahmad, that the adhan is given for a missed prayer and the call to begin the prayer is also given for it, as Khattabi has stated.
