The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the afternoon prayer while the sun was still shining into her chamber, the shadow not yet having risen above it.
أن رسول الله ﷺ صلى العصر، والشمس في حجرتها، لم يظهر الفي من حجرتها.
Bukhari (545) and Muslim (611) both narrated it from Ibn Shihab, from Urwa, from Ayesha. Malik, Bukhari, and Muslim mentioned it following the hadith of Abu Masud to clarify the time of the Asr prayer, presenting it as a suspended statement attributed to Ibn Shihab. Then the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) connected it with full chains going back to Ibn Shihab, and in his wording it reads, the Prophet ﷺ used to pray Asr while the sun was still shining into her room, before the shadow had yet appeared.It was also narrated by Hisham, from his father, from Ayesha, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Asr while the sun had not yet left her room. This is how it appears in Bukhari. In Muslim's version, it reads, while the sun was still falling into my room.
