I prayed the dawn prayer with Abdullah bin Zubayr while it was still dark. When he gave the closing salutation, I turned to Ibn Umar and asked, "What prayer is this?"He replied, "This was our prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and Umar. When Umar was stabbed, Uthman delayed it until daylight had spread."
صليت مع عبد الله بن الزبير الصبح بغلس، فلما سلم أقبلت على ابن عمر، فقلت: ما هذه الصلاة؟ قال: هذه صلاتنا كانت مع رسول الله ﷺ وأبي بكر وعمر، فلما طعن عمر أسفر بها عثمان.
Ibn Majah narrated it (671), saying, Abdul-Rahman bin Ibrahim Dimashqi told us, saying, Walid bin Muslim told us, saying, Uzai told us, saying, Nahik bin Yarim told us, saying, Mugheeth bin Sumayy told us, then he mentioned the hadith.Nahik follows the pattern of "Azeem," and Yarim is spelled with a "ya" at both the beginning and in that position. Uzai Shami is trustworthy, and its chain is sahih. As for Walid bin Muslim, he is a mudallis, but he explicitly stated that he heard it directly from his teacher, just as his teacher, Uzai, explicitly stated that he heard it directly from his own teacher. This removes any suspicion of tadlis from him.Bayhaqi (1/456) said, after narrating the hadith through Abbas bin Walid bin Mazyad, who said, My father told me, saying, I heard Uzai, then he mentioned something similar. He said, in the Kitab al-Ilal of Abu Isa Tirmidhi, it states that Muhammad bin Ismail Bukhari said, "The hadith of Uzai from Nahik bin Yarim concerning praying at dawn while it is still dark (taghlees) at Fajr is a hasan hadith."
