The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This was Jibreel who came to you to teach you your religion. He led the dawn prayer when the dawn broke, and he led the noon prayer when the sun had passed its zenith. Then he led the afternoon prayer when an object's shadow was equal to its length, then he led the sunset prayer when the sun had set and the fasting person could break his fast, then he led the night prayer when the twilight of the night had disappeared. Then he came the following day and led the dawn prayer when the morning had brightened a little, then he led the noon prayer when an object's shadow was equal to its length, then he led the afternoon prayer when an object's shadow was twice its length, then he led the sunset prayer at the same single time, when the sun had set and the fasting person could break his fast, then he led the night prayer when a portion of the night had passed. Then he said, 'The time of prayer is between your prayer yesterday and your prayer today.'"
Nasai (502) narrated it, he said, Husayn bin Hurayth informed us, he said, Fadl bin Musa reported to us, from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith.Hakim (1/194) graded it sahih, through the route of Fadl bin Musa, in abridged form.I say, its chain is hasan, for Muhammad bin Amr, who is Ibn Alqama Laythi, Abu Abdullah, is "truthful." Yaqub bin Shayba and Ibn Saad have criticized him, but the whole group of hadith compilers narrated from him.
