The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate the shoulder of a sheep, then prayed without performing ablution.
أن رسول الله ﷺ أكل كتف شاة، وصلى ولم يتوضأ.
Malik narrated it in the Book of Wudu (19), from Zayd bin Aslam, from Ata bin Yasar, from Abdullah bin Abbas, and he related the hadith. Through his route, Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Wudu (207) and Muslim in the Book of Menstruation (354). In Muslim's version, apart from Malik's hadith, it adds, "and he did not touch water."In Musnad Ahmad (3464), from Sulayman bin Yasar, he reported that he heard Ibn Abbas, having seen Abu Hurairah performing wudu, ask him, "Do you know why I am performing wudu?" He said, "No." He said, "I am performing wudu because of pieces of dried curd that I ate." Ibn Abbas said, "I do not care what you performed wudu for. I bear witness that I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eat the shoulder of a sheep, then get up for prayer without performing wudu." Sulayman was present for both of these incidents. Its chain of transmission is also sahih.
