He saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cutting a piece from the shoulder of a sheep when he was called to prayer. He put down the knife and prayed without performing ablution.
أنه رأى رسول الله ﷺ يحتز من كتف شاة، فدعي إلى الصلاة، فألقى السكين، فصلى ولم يتوضأ.
Bukhari narrated it in the book of wudu (208), and Muslim narrated it in the book of Hayd (355), both from the hadith of Ibn Shihab, from Jafar bin Amr bin Umaya Damri, from his father, and he related the hadith. Muslim added, "So he ate from it."
