Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

Abu Saeed Khudri reported, "We set out as pilgrims, either for Hajj or Umrah, and Ibn Sayyad was with us. We stopped at a resting place, and the people scattered, leaving just him and me. I felt a strong unease toward him because of what people were saying about him.He brought his belongings and placed them beside mine, so I said, 'The heat is intense. Why don't you place them under that tree?' He did so.Then a flock of sheep appeared, and he went off and came back with a wooden bowl of milk. He said, 'Drink, Abu Saeed.'I said, 'The heat is intense, and the milk is hot.' But the truth was that I simply disliked drinking from his hand, or taking anything from him.He said, 'Abu Saeed, I have come close to taking a rope, fastening it to a tree, and hanging myself because of what people say about me. Abu Saeed, whoever the hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is hidden from, surely it is not hidden from you Ansar. Are you not among the most knowledgeable of people about the hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not say, He is a disbeliever, while I am a Muslim? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not say, He is barren and will have no children, while I have left my children behind in Medina? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not say, He shall not enter Medina nor Mecca, while I have just come from Medina heading for Mecca?'"Abu Saeed Khudri said, "I almost began to excuse him.Then he said, 'But by Allah, I know who he is, I know where he was born, and I know where he is right now.'I said to him, 'May ruin follow you the rest of the day.'"In another narration from him, he said, "He kept on until he nearly won me over with his words.Then he said to him, 'But by Allah, I know right now where he is, and I know his father and his mother.'He was asked, 'Would it please you to be that man?'He replied, 'If it were offered to me, I would not refuse.'"

عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال

خرجنا حجاجا أو عمارا، ومعنا ابن صائد، قال: فنزلنا منزلا، فتفرق الناس، وبقيت أنا وهو فاستوحشت منه وحشة شديدة مما يقال عليه، قال: وجاء بمتاعه فوضعه مع متاعي فقلت: إن الحر شديد، فلو وضعته تحت تلك الشجرة، قال: ففعل، قال: فرفعت لنا غنم، فانطلق، فجاء بعس، فقال: اشرب أبا سعيد فقلت: إن الحر شديد، واللبن حار، ما بي إلا أني أكره أن أشرب عن يده- أو قال أخذ عن يده- فقال: أبا سعيد لقد هممت أن آخذ حبلا فأعلقه بشجرة ثم أختنق مما يقول لي الناس، يا أبا سعيد من خفي عليه حديث رسول الله ﷺ، ما خفي عليكم معشر الأنصار، ألست من أعلم الناس بحديث رسول الله ﷺ؟ أليس قد قال رسول الله ﷺ: هو كافر وأنا مسلم؟ أو ليس قد قال رسول الله ﷺ: هو عقيم لا يولد له، وقد تركت ولدي بالمدينة؟ أو ليس قد قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا يدخل المدينة ولا مكة، وقد أقبلت من المدينة وأنا أريد مكة؟ قال أبو سعيد الخدري حتى كدت أن أعذره، ثم قال: أما والله إني لأعرفه، وأعرف مولده، وأين هو الآن، قال: قلت له: تبا لك سائر اليوم. وفي رواية عنه قال: فما زال حتى كاد أن يأخذ في قوله، قال: فقال له: أما والله إني لأعلم الآن حيث هو، وأعرف أباه وأمه، قال: وقيل له: أيسرك أنك ذاك الرجل؟ قال: فقال: لو عرض علي ما كرهت.
