Ibn Sayyad asked the Prophet ﷺ about the soil of Paradise, and he replied, "It is fine white flour, pure musk."
أن ابن صياد سأل النبي ﷺ عن تربة الجنة فقال: درمكة بيضاء، مسك خالص.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Tribulations and Signs of the Hour (2928:93), from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Abu Usama narrated to us, from Jareeri, from Abu Nadra, from Abu Saeed, and he mentioned it. This is the sahih version, and reasoning supports this, since it is the Prophet ﷺ who should be the one asked about unseen matters, not the one asking about them.However, Muslim placed first (2928:92) the narration of Nasr bin Ali Jahdami, who said, Bishr bin Mufaddal narrated to us, from Abu Maslama, from Abu Nadra, from Abu Saeed, who said, the Messenger of Allah said to Ibn Sayyad, "What is the soil of Paradise..." and so on, the hadith. This version makes Ibn Sayyad the one who is asked. Perhaps this was done in consideration of the strength of its chain from a technical standpoint, since it is stronger than the narration of Jareeri.His saying "darmaka" - "darmak" means fine, soft soil.
