The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, along with Abu Bakr and Umar, met him, meaning Ibn Sayyad, on one of the streets of Medina. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I believe in Allah, His angels, and His books. What do you see?"He said, "I see a throne upon the water."The Messenger of Allah said, "You see the throne of Iblis upon the sea. What else do you see?"He said, "I see a truthful one and a liar," or "two liars and a truthful one."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The matter has been confused for him. Leave him."
لقيه- أي ابن صياد- رسول الله ﷺ وأبو بكر وعمر في بعض طرق المدينة، فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: أتشهد أني رسول الله؟ فقال هو: أتشهد أني رسول الله؟ فقال رسول الله ﷺ آمنت بالله وملائكته وكتبه، ما ترى؟ قال: أرى عرشا على الماء، فقال رسول الله: ترى عرش إبليس على البحر، وما ترى؟ قال أرى صادقا وكاذبا أو كاذبين وصادقا، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: لبس عليه، دعوه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Tribulations and the Signs of the Hour (2925) from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Salim bin Nuh narrated to us, from Jareeri, from Abu Nadra, from Abu Saeed, who said, then he mentioned it.
