The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed his companions one day when the sun was about to set, with only a small portion of it remaining. He said, "By the One in whose hand my soul rests, what remains of this world compared to what has already passed of it is only like what remains of this day of yours compared to what has already passed of it, and we see only a little of the sun left."
أن رسول الله ﷺ خطب أصحابه ذات يوم وقد كادت الشمس أن تغرب فلم يبق منها إلا يسير فقال: والذي نفسي بيده ما بقي من الدنيا فيما مضى منها إلا كما بقي من يومكم هذا فيما مضى منه وما نرى من الشمس إلا يسيرا.

Bazzar (7242) narrated it through multiple chains from Khalaf bin Musa bin Khalaf, who said, my father narrated to me, from Qatada, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Khalaf bin Musa bin Khalaf and his father, for the two of them make the hadith hasan. Haythami said in Majma (10/311), "Bazzar narrated it through the route of Khalaf bin Musa from his father, and the two of them have been graded reliable, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih."Similar in meaning to this is what was narrated from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at the sun as it was setting over the tips of the palm branches and said, "What remains of your day is like what has passed of it." He said, we said, "O Messenger of Allah, what remains?" He said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, what remains of this world compared to what has passed of it is only like what remains of your day compared to what has passed of it."Bazzar (9270) narrated it from Rawh bin Hatim, who said, Abdullah bin Ghalib narrated to us, who said, Hisham bin Abdul-Rahman narrated to us, from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and he mentioned it.Bazzar said, after mentioning three hadiths through the route of Hisham bin Abdul-Rahman, "As for these three hadiths of Hisham bin Abdul-Rahman, we do not know of anyone who shared them with him from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah. This Abdullah bin Ghalib is a man with no harm in him, and as for Hisham, we do not know of anyone who narrated from him except Abdullah bin Ghalib."Haythami said in Majma (10/311), "Bazzar narrated it, and among its narrators is Hisham bin Abdul-Rahman, whom I do not recognize, while the rest of its narrators are reliable."I say, it is as he said, for I too was unable to find any biographical entry on Hisham bin Abdul-Rahman, whether in criticism or endorsement.
