The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah will never gather my Ummah," or he said, "this Ummah, upon misguidance, and the hand of Allah is over the community."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: لا يجمع الله أمتي أو قال هذه الأمة على الضلالة أبدا، ويد الله على الجماعة.
Hakim narrated it (1151) through two routes, from Salama bin Shuayb and Abbas bin Abdul-Azim, both of them from Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Ibrahim bin Maymun narrated to us, Abdullah bin Tawus informed me that he heard his father narrating, that he heard Ibn Abbas narrating that the Prophet ﷺ said, then he mentioned it. Tirmidhi also narrated it (2166) from Yahya bin Musa, who said, Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us, then he mentioned it, narrating it with the same chain. Its wording is, "The hand of Allah is with the community." He said, "Hasan gharib, we do not know it from the hadith of Ibn Abbas except through this route." I say, it is as he said, for Ibrahim bin Maymun Sanani, also said to be Zubaydi, is hasan al-hadith, Ibn Main deemed him trustworthy, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. The discussion of him is set out in detail in the tafsir of Surah Nisa (115).It is narrated from Abu Malik Ashari, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has protected you from three things, that your Prophet should not pray against you so that you all perish together, that the people of falsehood should not prevail over the people of truth, and that you should not unite upon misguidance." Abu Dawud narrated it (4253) from Muhammad bin Awf Tai, who said, Muhammad bin Ismail narrated to us, my father narrated to me. Ibn Awf said, and I read in the original manuscript of Ismail, he said, Damdam narrated to me, from Shurayh, from Abu Malik Ashari, who said, then he mentioned it.Shurayh is Ibn Ubayd, who did not hear from Abu Malik Ashari, as Abu Hatim said, and this is why Ibn Hajar said in Talkhis (1413) that its chain has a break. Muhammad bin Ismail bin Ayyash has been criticized, and he was faulted for narrating from his father without having heard from him directly, but Ibn Awf mentioned that he read this hadith in the original manuscript of his father Ismail bin Ayyash.Likewise, what is narrated from Anas bin Malik is not sound, that he said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "My nation will not unite upon misguidance, so when you see disagreement, hold fast to the great majority." Ibn Majah narrated it (3950), and Abd bin Humayd (1220), and Ibn Adi in the entry on Maan bin Rifa in al-Kamil, all of them through the route of Maan bin Rifa Salami, who said, Abu Khalaf Ama narrated to me, he said, I heard Anas bin Malik say, then he mentioned it. Maan bin Rifa is daif, and Abu Khalaf Ama is matruk, and Ibn Main accused him of lying.
