The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah will send to this nation, at the head of every hundred years, someone who will renew its religion for it."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إن الله يبعث لهذه الأمة على رأس كل مائة سنة من يجدد لها دينها.
Abu Dawud (4219), Hakim (4/522), and Dani in al-Fitan (364) all narrated it through the route of Ibn Wahb, from Saeed bin Abu Ayub, from Sharahil bin Yazid Maafiri, from Abu Alqama (he is Farsi Misri), from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Sharahil bin Yazid Maafiri, for he is hasan al-hadith. Abu Dawud said following it, "Abdul-Rahman bin Shurayh Iskandarani narrated it, and he did not carry it through Sharahil," meaning he did not go beyond him, so he dropped Abu Alqama and Abu Hurairah from the chain.Abdul-Rahman is trustworthy, but Saeed bin Abu Ayub connected it, and he is trustworthy and firmly established, so his connecting it is an accepted addition.
