Nasr bin Asim reported,

We came to al-Yashkuri in a group from Banu Layth.He asked, "Who are these people?"We said, "We are Banu Layth. We have come to ask you about the hadith of Hudhayfah."He said, We were returning with Abu Musa, and our mounts grew weary at Kufa. So I and a companion of mine asked Abu Musa for permission to enter the city, and he allowed us. When we arrived in Kufa, I said to my companion, "I am going into the mosque. When the market opens, I will come out to you."So I entered the mosque, and there I found a circle of people sitting so still it was as though birds were perched on their heads, listening to the words of a man. I stood near them, and a man came and stood beside me.I asked, "Who is this?"He replied, "Are you from Basra?"I said, "Yes."He said, "I thought so. Had you been from Kufa, you would not have asked about this."So I drew closer and heard Hudhayfah saying, People used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about good, but I used to ask him about evil, for I knew that good would not pass me by.I said, "Messenger of Allah, will there be evil after this good?"He answered, "Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it," repeating this three times.I asked again, "Messenger of Allah, will there be evil after this good?"He said, "Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it."I said, "Messenger of Allah, will there be evil after this good?"He said, "Tribulation and evil."I said, "Messenger of Allah, will there be good after this evil?"He said, "Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it," repeating this three times.I said, "Messenger of Allah, will there be good after this evil?"He said, "A truce tainted with smoldering rancor, and a community held together over impurities within it."I said, "Messenger of Allah, what is the truce tainted with smoldering rancor?"He said, "The hearts of certain people will not return to what they once were."I said, "Messenger of Allah, will there be evil after this good?"He said, "Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it," repeating this three times.I said, "Messenger of Allah, will there be evil after this good?"He said, "A blind, deaf tribulation with callers at the gates of Hell. Hudhayfah, if you die clinging to the stump of a tree, that would be better for you than to follow any one of them."

عن نصر بن عاصم الليثي قال

أتينا اليشكري في رهط من بني ليث فقال: من القوم؟ فقلنا: بنو ليث أتيناك نسألك عن حديث حذيفة. قال: أقبلنا مع أبي موسى قافلين، وغلت الدواب بالكوفة قال: فسألت أبا موسى أنا وصاحب لي، فأذن لنا، فقدمنا الكوفة، فقلت لصاحبي: أنا داخل المسجد، فإذا قامت السوق خرجت إليك، قال: فدخلت المسجد، فإذا فيه حلقة كأنما قطعت رؤوسهم يستمعون إلى حديث رجل، قال: فقمت عليهم، فجاء رجل، فقام إلى جنبي قال: فقلت من هذا؟ قال: أبصري أنت؟ قال: قلت: نعم. قال: قد عرفت ولو كنت كوفيا، لم تسأل عن هذا، قال: فدنوت منه، فسمعت حذيفة يقول: كان الناس يسألون رسول الله ﷺ عن الخير، وكنت أسأله عن الشر، وعرفت أن الخير لن يسبقني. قال: قلت: يا رسول الله بعد هذا الخير شر؟ فقال: يا حذيفة، تعلم كتاب الله، واتبع ما فيه، ثلاث مرار، قال: فقلت: يا رسول الله بعد هذا الخير شر؟ فقال: يا حذيفة، تعلم كتاب الله، واتبع ما فيه، قلت: يا رسول الله بعد هذا الخير شر؟ قال: فتنة وشر قلت: يا رسول الله بعد هذا الشر خير؟ قال: يا حذيفة تعلم كتاب الله، واتبع ما فيه ثلاث مرات، قلت: يا رسول الله بعد هذا الشر خير؟ قال: هدنة على دخن، وجماعة على أقذاء فيها أو فيهم، فقلت: يا رسول الله، الهدنة على الدخن ما هي؟ قال: لا ترجع قلوب أقوام على الذي كانت عليه قال: قلت: يا رسول الله بعد هذا الخير شر؟ قال: يا حذيفة، تعلم كتاب الله، واتبع ما فيه ثلاث مرار، قال: قلت يا رسول الله بعد هذا الخير شر؟ قال: فتنة عمياء صماء عليها دعاة على أبواب النار، فإن مت يا حذيفة وأنت عاض على جذل خير لك من أن تتبع أحدا منهم.
