The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever departs from the community by even a hand's span has cast off the yoke of Islam from his neck."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من فارق الجماعة شبرا فقد خلع ربقة الإسلام من عنقه.
Reported by Abu Dawud (4758), Ahmad (21561), and Hakim (1/117), all through routes from Mutarrif bin Tareef, from Abu Jahm (who is Sulayman bin Jahm), from Khalid bin Wahban, from Abu Dharr, who narrated it.Hakim said, "Khalid bin Wahban has not been criticized in his narrations, and he is a well known successor, except that the two sheikhs did not include him. This same text has also been narrated from Abdullah bin Umar with a sahih chain meeting their criteria."I say, and with this the hadith becomes hasan.
