The Prophet ﷺ forbade images in the house and forbade anyone from making them. During the conquest, while he was at Batha, the Prophet ﷺ commanded Umar bin Khattab to go to the Kaabah and erase every image in it. He did not enter the House until every image inside had been erased.
Ahmad (14596) narrated it from Abdullah bin Harith, from Ibn Jurayj, "Abu Zubayr told me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah claim that the Prophet ﷺ forbade..." and he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Abu Zubayr, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (5844), relating it through another route from Ibn Jurayj in a shortened form without the story of Umar. Abu Dawud (4156) narrated it through another route from Jabir, that the Prophet ﷺ ordered Umar bin Khattab, and he related the story.
