We were with Masruq in the house of Yasar bin Numayr when he noticed images on its porch. He said, "I heard Abdullah say, 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "The people who will receive the most severe punishment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection are the image-makers."'"
كنا مع مسروق في دار يسار بن نمير، فرأى في صفته تماثيل، فقال: سمعت عبد الله، قال: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: إن أشد الناس عذابا عند الله يوم القيامة المصورون.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing (5950), and Muslim in the Book of Clothing and Adornment (2109), through the route of Amash, from Abu Duha Muslim bin Sabih, who said, and then he mentioned it. The wording given here is Bukhari's, and Muslim does not include the story, but he narrated it through the route of Mansur, from Muslim bin Sabih, who said, I was with Masruq in a house that had images of Maryam in it, and Masruq said, "Are these images of Khusrau?" I said, "No, these are images of Maryam." Then he mentioned the hadith.
