She had hung up a curtain on which there were images, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in and tore it down. She said, "I then cut it into two cushions."A man in the gathering at that time, called Rabia bin Ata, the freed slave of Banu Zuhrah, said, "Did you not hear Abu Muhammad mention that Ayesha said the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recline upon them?"Ibn Qasim replied, "No."He said, "But I heard him say it," meaning Qasim bin Muhammad.
أنها نصبت سترا فيه تصاوير، فدخل رسول الله ﷺ فنزعه، قالت: فقطعته وسادتين. فقال رجل في المجلس حينئذ، يقال له: ربيعة بن عطاء مولى بني زهرة: أفما سمعت أبا محمد يذكر أن عائشة قالت: فكان رسول الله ﷺ يرتفق عليهما؟ قال ابن القاسم: لا، قال: لكني قد سمعته يريد القاسم بن محمد.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Clothing (2107:95), from Harun bin Maruf, who said, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, who said, Amr bin Harith narrated to us, that Bukayr told him, that Abdul-Rahman bin Qasim told him, that his father told him, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it.This story was narrated in the Sahihayn through multiple chains of transmission, some more complete than others. Muslim gathered them all in one place, as was his usual practice, while Bukhari mentioned it scattered across different places, though it is the same story.
