We had a curtain with the image of a bird on it, and anyone entering the room would face it directly. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Move this aside, for whenever I enter and see it, I am reminded of worldly life."She said, "We also had a velvet cloak whose trim, we used to say, was silk, and we would wear it."
كان لنا ستر فيه تمثال طائر، وكان الداخل إذا دخل استقبله، فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ: حولي هذا، فإني كلما دخلت فرأيته ذكرت الدنيا. قالت: وكانت لنا قطيفة كنا نقول: علمها حرير، فكنا نلبسها.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Dress and Adornment (2107:88), on the authority of Zuhayr bin Harb, who said, Ismail bin Ibrahim narrated to us, from Dawud, from Azra, from Humayd bin Abdul-Rahman, from Saad bin Hisham, from Ayesha, and he related it.
