The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a gold ring on a man's hand, so he pulled it off and threw it down, saying, "One of you deliberately takes a burning coal from the fire and places it on his hand."After the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had left, someone said to the man, "Take your ring and make use of it."He replied, "No, by Allah, I will never take it back after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has thrown it away."
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on clothing and adornment (2090), from Muhammad bin Sahl Tamimi, who said, Ibn Abu Maryam (that is, Saeed) narrated to us, Muhammad bin Jafar informed me, Ibrahim bin Uqba informed me, from Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, from Abdullah bin Abbas, and he mentioned it.
