The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While a man was walking proudly in two fine garments, Allah caused the earth to swallow him up, and he will keep sinking into it until the Day of Resurrection."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: بينا رجل يمشي بين بردين مختالا خسف الله به الأرض، فهو يتجلجل فيها إلى يوم القيامة.
Ahmad (11353) narrated it from Muawiya bin Hisham, who said, Shayban narrated to us, from Firas, from Atiya, from Abu Saeed Khudri, and he related it. Bazzar also narrated it in Kashf Astar (2952) through another route, from Hajjaj bin Artah, from Atiya bin Saad, in a similar manner. Atiya here is Ibn Saad Awfi, and he is daif when he narrates alone, but he has been corroborated, for Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (2953) through another route, from Mutarrif, who is Ibn Abdullah bin Shikhir, from Khudri, as a raised report (marfu). With these two chains the hadith becomes hasan, though in Bazzar's narration there is someone who falls below the level of being trustworthy.
