Jabir reported, and I believe he traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, that a man was strutting about proudly in a red garment, glorying in himself, when Allah caused the earth to swallow him up, and he will continue sinking into it until the Day of Resurrection.
عن جابر قال: أحسبه رفعه: أن رجلا كان في حلة حمراء، فتبختر، أو اختال فيها، فخسف الله به الأرض، فهو يتجلجل فيها إلى يوم القيامة.

Bazzar narrated it, Kashf Astar (2955), from Amr bin Ali, Abu Asim told us, from Ibn Jurayj, Abu Zubayr informed me and related it. Its isnad is hasan because of Abu Zubayr. Haythami said in Majma (5/129), "Bazzar narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih." Ibn Hajar likewise graded it sahih in Mukhtasar Zawaid Bazzar (1179).
