The Prophet ﷺ said, "The pilgrim in ihram must not wear a shirt, a turban, trousers, a hooded cloak, or any garment touched by saffron or wars dye, nor leather socks, except for one who cannot find sandals. If he cannot find sandals, let him cut the leather socks so they fall below the ankles."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لا يلبس المحرم القميص، ولا العمامة، ولا السراويل، ولا البرنس، ولا ثوبا مسه زعفران ولا ورس، ولا الخفين إلا لمن لم يجد النعلين، فإن لم يجدهما فليقطعهما أسفل من الكعبين.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Clothing (5806), and Muslim in the Book of Hajj (1177:2), both through the route of Sufyan bin Uyayna, who said, "I heard Zuhri say, Salim informed me, from his father," and he mentioned the hadith.His saying "burnus" refers to any garment whose hood is attached to it as part of it. Sulayman Taymi said, "I saw Anas wearing a yellow burnus made of silk brocade." Bukhari related it (5802).
