The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people while wearing a black turban.
أن رسول الله ﷺ خطب الناس، وعليه عمامة سوداء.
Muslim narrated it in "the Hajj" (1359) through several routes from Waki, from Musawir al-Warraq, from Jafar bin Amr bin Hurayth, from his father, and he related it.He also narrated it through several routes from Abu Usama, from Musawir, adding, "He had let its two ends hang down between his shoulders."In Nasai (5343), through the route of Sufyan, from Musawir al-Warraq, "a scorched turban" (imama hurqaniyya), from "scorching," meaning black, the color of something burnt by fire.Similar in meaning is what was narrated from Ibn Umar, that the Prophet ﷺ entered on the day of the conquest of Makkah wearing a black turban.Ibn Majah narrated it (3586) from Ibn Abu Shayba, and it is in his Musannaf (25466), from Musa bin Ubayda, from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Ibn Umar, and he related it.Musa bin Ubayda is daif by consensus of the scholars, even though Shuba narrated from him. They said, "If what became apparent to others had become apparent to Shuba, he would not have narrated from him."Ahmad said, "His narration from Abdullah bin Dinar is as if it were not that same Abdullah bin Dinar."
