The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Mecca wearing a black turban, not in a state of ihram. In another wording, he entered on the day of the conquest of Mecca.
أن رسول الله ﷺ دخل مكة، وعليه عمامة سوداء بغير إحرام. وفي لفظ: دخل يوم فتح مكة.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj (1358:451) through several chains from Muawiya bin Ammar Duhni, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, and he mentioned it.He also narrated it from Ali bin Hakeem Awdi, who said, Sharik informed us, from Ammar Duhni, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, and he mentioned it.Ismail bin Abban clarified that Muawiya bin Ammar Duhni heard it from Abu Zubayr along with his father. Darimi mentioned this (1982).
