The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in a patterned woolen garment of his that had decorative markings on it. He glanced at its markings during the prayer, and when he finished, he said, "Take this garment of mine to Abu Jahm, for it just distracted me from my prayer, and bring me Abu Jahm's plain woolen cloak instead."
صلى رسول الله ﷺ في خميصة له لها أعلام، فنظر إلى أعلامها نظرة، فلما سلم قال: اذهبوا بخميصتي هذه إلى أبي جهم، فإنها ألهتني آنفا عن صلاتي، وأتوني بأنبجانية أبي جهم.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing (5817), and Muslim in the Book of Mosques (556), both through the route of Ibn Shihab Zuhri, from Urwa, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it.His saying, "my khamisa," Asmai said, "khamais are garments of silk or wool with markings, and they were black, and were part of what people wore." Abu Ubayd said, it is a square cloak with two markings. It is also said that it is a thin cloak of any color, and it is said that it is not called a khamisa unless it is black and marked.
