I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he was wearing a Najrani cloak with a coarse border. An Arabi caught up with him and yanked him by his cloak so violently that I saw the side of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ shoulder marked by the cloak's border from the force of the pull.Then he said, "Muhammad, give me some of Allah's wealth that you have."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to him and laughed, then ordered that he be given a gift.
كنت أمشي مع رسول الله ﷺ وعليه برد نجراني غليظ الحاشية، فأدركه أعرابي فجبذه بردائه جبذة شديدة، حتى نظرت إلى صفحة عاتق رسول الله ﷺ قد أثرت بها حاشية البرد من شدة جبذته، ثم قال: يا محمد مر لي من مال الله الذي عندك، فالتفت إليه رسول الله ﷺ ثم ضحك، ثم أمر له بعطاء.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing (5809), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1057), both of them through Malik bin Anas, from Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Talha, from Anas bin Malik, who mentioned it. The wording given is Bukhari's, and Muslim's wording is the same except that he said, "and he was wearing a Najrani cloak, and the edge of the cloak had left a mark from it."
