I asked Anas, "Which garments were most beloved to the Prophet ﷺ?"He replied, "The hibarah."
قلت لانس: أي الثياب كان أحب إلى النبي ﷺ؟ قال: الحبرة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing (5812), and Muslim in the Book of Clothing (2079), both through the route of Hammam, who said, our teacher Qatada narrated it to us, and he related it.His saying, "hibrah," is on the pattern of "unabah." It is also said, "burd habir," and "burd hibrah," using it either as a descriptive adjective or in a genitive construction.Ibn Battal said, it is one of the fabrics of Yemen, made from cotton, and it was the finest of garments among them.Qurtubi said, it is called hibrah because it "tuhabbir," meaning it is adorned, and tahbir means adornment and beautification.Fath al-Bari (10/277).
