Anas bin Malik reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out one day and saw a tall, prominent dome. He asked, "What is this?"His companions replied, "It belongs to so-and-so, a man from the Ansar."He said nothing, but kept the matter in his heart. When the owner of the dome later came to greet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ among the people, the Prophet turned away from him. He did this several times, until the man recognized the Prophet's displeasure and his averted face. The man complained about this to his companions, saying, "By Allah, I find the Messenger of Allah ﷺ behaving strangely toward me."They said, "He went out and saw your dome."So the man returned to his dome and demolished it, leveling it to the ground. One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out and did not see it. He asked, "What happened to the dome?"They said, "Its owner complained to us about your turning away from him, so we told him the reason, and he demolished it."He said, "Indeed, every building is a burden upon its owner, except what cannot be avoided, except what cannot be avoided," meaning what is absolutely necessary.
