He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Two hungry, ravenous wolves set loose among a flock of sheep whose shepherds have left them are not more destructive than a man's pursuit of status and wealth is to his religion."
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: ما ذئبان جائعان ضاريان في غنم قد غاب عنها رعاؤها بأفسد من التماس الشرف والمال لدين المؤمن.

Abu Naeem narrated it in Akhbar Asbahan (2/105), and Bayhaqi in Shuab (9787), both through routes from Musa bin Yaqub Zami, from Muaz bin Rifa Ansari Zarqi, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Musa bin Yaqub, for he is hasan al-hadith when he does not contradict others.
