The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah the Exalted says, "Son of Adam, devote yourself to My worship and I will fill your heart with contentment and remove your poverty. If you do not, I will fill your hands with occupations and will not remove your poverty."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن الله تعالى يقول: يا ابن آدم تفرغ لعبادتي املأ صدرك غنى وأسد فقرك، وإلا تفعل ملأت يديك شغلا ولم أسد فقرك.
Tirmidhi (2466) and Ibn Majah (4107) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (393) and Hakim (2/443) both graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Imran bin Zaida bin Nashit, from his father, from Abu Khalid Walibi, from Abu Hurairah, who related it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith."I say, it is as he said, for more than one narrator has transmitted from Zaida bin Nashit, and Ibn Hibban deemed him trustworthy. That is why Hafiz said, "Acceptable," meaning if corroborated. I did not find anyone who corroborated him, but I found something that supports it, which is the hadith of Maqil bin Yasar, narrated in a similar form as a statement attributed to the Prophet.Hakim narrated it (4/326) through the route of Hafs bin Umar Hawdi, who said, Sallam bin Abu Mutee narrated to us, who said, Zayd Ammi narrated to us, who said, Muawiya bin Qurra narrated to us, from Maqil bin Yasar, who related it. Zayd Ammi is daif.A note of caution, an omission occurred in the printed edition of Hakim's Mustadrak, where the mention of "Zayd Ammi" was dropped between Sallam bin Abu Mutee and Muawiya bin Qurra. It is mentioned in Hilyah (2/303).
