Muhammad bin Kaab reported,

Abdullah bin Yazid al-Khatmi was invited to a meal. When he arrived and saw the house draped with curtains, he sat outside and wept. They asked, "What makes you weep?"He replied, "Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw off an army and reached the pass of farewell, he would say, 'I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust, and the final outcomes of your deeds.' One day he saw a man who had patched his cloak with a piece of fur. He turned to face the rising sun and gestured with his hand," — Hammad demonstrated by extending his hand with palms upward — "and said, 'The world has loomed over you, the world has loomed over you,' meaning, it has advanced upon us until we thought it would fall upon us. Then he said, 'Are you better today, or when one large bowl of food comes to you in the morning and another in the evening, when one of you goes out in one fine garment and returns in another, and your houses are draped with coverings just as the Kaabah is draped?'"
