I asked the Prophet ﷺ and he gave to me, then I asked him again and he gave to me, then I asked him a third time and he gave to me. Then he said, "This wealth is green and sweet. Whoever takes it with a contented heart will be blessed in it, but whoever takes it with a greedy heart will not be blessed in it, and he will be like the one who eats but is never full. The upper hand is better than the lower hand."
سألت النبي ﷺ فأعطاني، ثم سألته فأعطاني، ثم سألته فأعطاني، ثم قال: إن هذا المال خضرة حلوة، فمن أخذه بطيب نفس بورك له فيه، ومن أخذه بإشراف نفس لم يبارك له فيه، وكان كالذي يأكل ولا يشبع، واليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Riqaq (6441), and Muslim narrated it in the chapter on zakat (1035), both through the route of Sufyan, from Zuhri, from Urwa bin Zubayr and Saeed bin Musayab, from Hakeem bin Hizam, who related it.
