I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The heart of an old man remains young in two things, love of the world and length of hope."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: لايزال قلب الكبير شابا في اثنتين: في حب الدنيا وطول الأمل.
Bukhari narrated it in Riqaq (6420), and Muslim in Zakat (1046:114), both through Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. The wording given is Bukhari's. In Muslim's version, "The heart of the old man remains young in love of two things, love of long life and love of wealth." Muslim also narrated it (1046:113) with the wording, "love of living and of wealth."
