Ahmad (7962) and Ibn Hibban (683) both narrated it through the route of Shubah, from Dawud bin Farahij, who said, I heard Abu Hurairah say, and then he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan on account of Dawud bin Farahij Madani, for there is disagreement about him, except that this hadith of his has a sahih basis, and on this basis this hadith is deemed hasan.On this subject there is also a report from Ibn Abbas, who said, Two men whose need was the same came to the Prophet of Allah, and one of them spoke, and the Prophet of Allah noticed a foul odor from his mouth, so he said to him, "Do you not use the tooth-stick?" The man said, "I do, but I have not eaten food for three days." So he ordered a man to take him in, and he took him in and fulfilled his need.Ahmad (2409) narrated it from Hasan bin Musa, who said, Zuhayr, that is Ibn Muawiya, related to us, from Qabus, that his father had related to him, from Ibn Abbas, and then he mentioned it. Qabus is the son of Abu Dhubyan Husayn bin Jundab. Ibn Hibban said, His memory was poor, and when he narrates alone from his father it has no basis. And this narration of his is from his father.
