Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the people in prayer, some men would collapse from their standing posture during the prayer due to the severe hunger and poverty they suffered. These were among the People of the Bench, and the bedouins would say, "These people are madmen."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished the prayer, he would turn to them and say, "If you knew what awaits you with Allah, you would wish to increase in need and poverty."Fadala said, "I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on that day."
Tirmidhi (2368), Ahmad (23938), and Ibn Hibban (724), who graded it sahih, all narrated it through Abu Abdul-Rahman Abdullah bin Yazid Muqri, who said, Haywa bin Shurayh narrated to us, Abu Hani Khawlani Humayd bin Hani informed me, that Abu Ali Amr bin Malik Janabi informed him, from Fadala bin Ubayd, who related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."
