The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Nothing remains in the household of Muhammad this morning except a single mudd of food." Or he said, "There is not even a mudd of food in the household of Muhammad this morning."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ما أصبح في آل محمد إلا مد من طعام. أو ما أصبح في آل محمد مد من طعام.
Ibn Majah (4148) narrated it from Muhammad bin Yahya, who said, Abu Mughira (he is Abdullah bin Hajjaj Khawlani) narrated to us, Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah Masudi narrated to us, from Ali bin Budhayma, from Abu Ubayda, from Abdullah, and he related it.Masudi is truthful, but he became confused in memory toward the end of his life, and it is not known when Abu Mughira heard from him. However, Masudi's narration is corroborated. Ibn Arabi narrated it in his Mujam (978), as did Hakim (1/543) and Bayhaqi in Dalail (6/106), all of them through the route of Misar bin Kidam, from Ali bin Budhayma, in similar wording.Abu Ubayda is the son of Abdullah bin Masud, well known by his kunya. The more correct view is that he did not hear anything directly from his father, but this hadith of his has sound foundations, so it should be understood that he heard it from some member of his household, from Ibn Masud.
