Bukhari narrated it in "Raqaiq" (6419) from Abdul-Salam bin Muthahhar, who said, Umar bin Ali narrated to us, from Maen bin Muhammad Ghifari, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it.In a narration by Ahmad (7713), by another route from Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah, "Allah has indeed given a valid excuse to a servant whom He allowed to live until he reached sixty or seventy years, Allah has indeed given him a valid excuse, Allah has indeed given him a valid excuse."Tabarani narrated it in "Al-Kabir" (6/225), and Hakim (2/428), both by way of Hammad bin Zayd, from Abu Hazim, from Sahl bin Saad, in a similar wording. Hammad bin Zayd erred in it, following the common well-known path, because Abu Hazim was among those who transmitted extensively from Sahl bin Saad, while the group of narrators transmitted it from Abu Hazim, from Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah, and this is the sahih version, for the hadith is the hadith of Abu Hurairah. Daraqutni likewise stated explicitly that Hammad bin Zayd erred in it, in "Al-Ilal" (1456).The meaning of the hadith is that if a servant reaches sixty years of age and has not repented from disobedience, he has no excuse before Allah for his disobedience.
