The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Look to those who are below you, and do not look to those who are above you, for that is more likely to keep you from belittling the blessings Allah has given you."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: انظروا إلى من أسفل منكم، ولا تنظروا إلى من هو فوقكم فهو أجدر أن لا تزدروا نعمة الله عليكم.
Muslim narrated it in "Zuhd and Raqaiq" (9:2963) through several routes from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.His saying, "Look at those below you," means in matters of this world, whereas in matters of religion one should look at those above him. His saying, "you belittle," means do not hold in contempt.
