The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Abu Hurayrah, be scrupulous and you will be the most devoted of people in worship. Be content and you will be the most grateful of people. Love for others what you love for yourself and you will be a true believer. Be a good neighbor to those who live near you and you will be a true Muslim. Laugh little, for excessive laughter deadens the heart."
Ibn Majah (4217) narrated it - and this is his wording - as did Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (252) and Bayhaqi in Zuhd (822), all of them through routes from Abu Raja, from Barad bin Sinan, from Makhul, from Wathila bin Asqa, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.Its chain is hasan on account of Abu Raja, who is Mahraz bin Abdullah Jazari, a narrator whose hadith is hasan. Busiri also graded it hasan in Zawaid bin Majah.
