The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Frequently remember the destroyer of pleasures," meaning death.
قال رسول الله ﷺ: أكثروا ذكر هاذم اللذات يعني الموت.
Narrated by Tirmidhi (2307), Nasai (1824), Ibn Majah (4258), Ahmad (7925), Ibn Hibban (2992), and Hakim (3214), all of them through various routes from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.Its chain is hasan on account of Muhammad bin Amr bin Alqama, for he is hasan al-hadith. The discussion of this is set out at length in the book on funerals.His saying, "hazim al-ladhdhat" (the severer of pleasures), means the one who cuts them off. It has also been said as "hadim" with a dal, from "hadm" meaning the demolishing of a structure. What is meant by it is death.
