One of us would menstruate, then at the time of her purity she would scrape the blood from her garment, wash that spot, and sprinkle water over the rest of it, and then pray in it.In another narration, none of us had more than a single garment in which she would menstruate. If any blood got on it, she would apply her saliva to it and rub it off with her fingernail.
كانت إحدانا تحيض، ثم تقترص الدم من ثوبها عند طهرها، فتغسله وتنضح على سائره، ثم تصلي فيه. وفي رواية: ما كان لإحدانا إلا ثوب واحد تحيض فيه؛ فإذا أصابه شيء من دم قالت بريقها فقصعته بظفرها.
Bukhari narrated it in Hayd (308) via Abdul-Rahman bin Qasim, from his father, from Ayesha, and he mentioned the hadith.The second narration is also in Hayd (312) via Ibn Abu Najeeh, from Mujahid, who said, Ayesha said, and he mentioned the hadith.In Sunan Abu Dawud (358), it reads, "She moistened it with her saliva, then rubbed it with her saliva." Al-qasa means rubbing with the fingernail and pressing one thing against another. Her statement, "taqtaris the blood" means she washes it with the tips of her fingers.
