The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The believer is like a stalk of crops that the wind keeps bending, for the believer is constantly afflicted with trials. The hypocrite is like the cedar tree, which does not sway until it is ready to be cut down."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: مثل المؤمن كمثل الزرع لا تزال الريح تميله، ولا يزال المؤمن يصيبه البلاء، ومثل المنافق كمثل شجرة الأرز، لا تهتز حتى تستحصد.
Muslim narrated it in the Description of the Day of Resurrection (2809) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Abdul-Ala narrated to us, from Mamar, from Zuhri, from Saeed, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he mentioned it. Bukhari also narrated it in the Sick (5644) through another route from Abu Hurairah, similarly.
