"I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah will punish those who torture people in this world.'"
أما إني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إن الله يعذب الذين يعذبون في الدنيا.
Muslim narrated it in Chapter on Piety and Kinship (2613:117), from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Hafs bin Ghiyath narrated to us, from Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Hisham bin Hakeem bin Hizam, who said, He passed by some people in Syria who had been made to stand in the sun, with oil poured over their heads. He asked, "What is this?" He was told, "They are being punished over the land tax." He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say," and then he mentioned it.He also narrated it (2613:118) through other routes from Hisham with similar wording, and added in one version, "Their governor at that time was Umayr bin Saad, over Palestine. He went in to him and told him about it, so he ordered that they be released."
